Spanish weekend away; more trouble then its worth

Palma Majorca ...always suggested, but that's because of its perfect ease of access for this type of break and a gorgeous place to visit.0

We have done both a couple of weekends and a couple of longer trips in Spain.
Barcelona is great for a weekend, but I agree, fly into the main Bacelona airport - not the Girona (I think) one that Ryanair generally goes to. We flew with Easyjet to the main Barcelona airport.
Other places to consider would be Palma or Granada. Even Alicante or Malaga.
The main thing to consider when only going for a weekend is how long it is going to take you to get to your hotel etc at the other end, because that is what eats into your time, so we always try to stay as central as possible.
Go!! And have a great time.0 -

Yes, the old town is lovely and has great shops and restaurants. However, it's worth noting that quite a lot of the independent shops are shut on Saturday afternoon and Sundays (not that this stopped me buying up a ton of cheap Camper shoes and Zara/Mango clothes
