Insurance

I just won a bid, but there is an option of USD 6 for insurance. Is it wise to pay them or what do people normally do?

Many thanks,

No; it is the seller's responsibility to ensure the item reaches you.

    Thanks Hintza.
That's exactly my thought. This is what he said in a message to me.

although the insurance is optional, but we strongly recommended for this item, otherwise we will not be responsible for it's delivery such as lost or broken in transit once we pass it on to the carrier

    Advice?

I contacted via msg and told him that it is the sellers responsibility. This was his reply:

As for the insurance, the reason I sent you the insurance is out of recommendation and kindness, if you don?t pay for it, we will not hold the responsibility for its delivery such as lost or broken in transit once we pass it on to the carrier. Hopefully you could understand it.

I am thinking of not paying for the insurance, would that be wise?

    Thanks.

It simply doesn't matter what the seller says. If it doesn't arrive you whack in a paypal claim and get your ££ back.

    Save yourself $6.

I wouldn't even have bothered telling the seller I wasn't paying the insurance, it's an option so just don't pay it. Not everything from the US gets lost, I trade quite successfully with many overseas buyers and sellers, however one day he will lose something and then he'll get a shock.

Didnt want to inform him too, but he added the insurance to my invoice and said its required, although advertised it as optional. I msged him back and asked it to be removed and send me a new invoice, which he has done, so credit him there. Still maintains that, they're not responsible after they pass it on to the courier bla bla.

    Oh well ....

Wouldn't worry what he thinks. Either it'll get here and it'll not matter, or it won't and you'll get your money back.

    Win win for you.
