rusty BBQ griddle plates.

Hi as the weather is going to be nice we fancy a bbq! BUT oh dear the cooking plates are really rusty and horrible it is a 3 burner B&Q barcelona gas BBQ and it appears they dont sell replacement grills.It is about 4 years old I have looked around googled etc but cant find any.
Has anyone any suggestions to how we can revive them?

Are you talking about cast iron grills? If so then just give them a good rub down with a stiff wire brush to remove all the rust, then rub them all over with an olive oil soaked rag prior to using

If its cast iron you can get paint designed for cast iron stoves I am sure that could also be used for that

Are you mad? Would you paint a rusty frying pan and re-use it?

yes they are the cast iron ones, OH says he will give them a good rub down and oil them well.Thanks.

Just turn the heat on and let it burn "au natural". Then rub down with a stiff wire brush. Job done.
