I did a searech through the site and forum with both hips and home information pack. I tried H.I.P.S too
All searches produced 0 results. Perhaps the search facility on this site is not up to scratch

Try searching for "HIPS" (no fullstops between letters) or "Home Information Packs".

As has been said there are loads of threads. If you don't want to search - be patient - wait a day or two and a thread will show up because someone has posted on it.

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.

I am one of the few who thought they were a great minefield of good imformation and a welcome to the buying process...i think they are a good addition,,
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

In the BBC election debate I'm pretty sure David Cameron said he'd get rid of HIPs if he won the election so they may not have much of a future.

All the new online HIP startups must be getting pretty worried about their business model!
Every generation blames the one before...
