Boiler Safety Certificate - rented house

I am just about to move into a rented property in a village where there is no gas. The property has oil fired central heating.

Does anyone know if the boiler will still require an annual safety certificate?

Many thanks

No idea. It certainly won't need a gas safety certificate. :D
this link says no - just that it's 'serviced periodically'
do ask about how much oil there is when you take on the property, & at what level you have to return it. Is it like a rental car - full to full?
  • Lots of info there - thank you both very much!
Me thanks button's still not working

i would research the make of the boiler first, to see if there are specific safety issues with this product before going in all guns blazing to a new landlord

An oil fired boiler does not need an annual safety certificate as there is only a requirement for checks for gas fed equipment.

LL's obligation is the same as with electricity ie if there was a disaster then LL would need to be able to defend a claim of negligence which is easily done by showing maintainance in accordance with building standards and the manufacture's recommendations.
