Paying for ebay item to different paypal address

Hi, i am about to buy a high value item on ebay, but the seller has requested that payment is made to another paypal account and not their email address.

Firstly how do i do this after i press buy and pay on ebay. and secondly is this an ok thing to do, or does this seem dodgy etc? will i still be covered by paypal for any problems etc?

The way it would be done is that you pay to a paypal address and then the seller marks the item as payment received manually.

Security wise, I wouldn't be so sure.

As long as you link the Ebay item to the Paypal payment there shouldn't be a problem.
Log into Paypal, click on 'send payment' at the top and you get options to add email address and Ebay item number.
You could always ask the buyer to send you a payment request and save you doing all the work! Make sure the Ebay item is included if you do it that way round.

Just make sure like RFW says that you make sure you link the payment to the ebay goods otherwise it counts as an off ebay transaction as far as paypal are concerned and you have less paypal protection.
