hello willow - welcome to the madhouse!

We have a bidder on ebay - 99p......hoping that it will increase over the next few days, but at least it is a start.

Also sold a DVD overnight on Amazon - so that is another couple of ££s to come through, and I have listed a few more bits on Amazon this morning.

Right, best get on - need to don my flouro jacket and clipboard, and qualify for my free breakfast :D

The brekkie sounds nice, Shaun! Very healthy too. Hypno's missed my pm on the free bet I mentioned yesterday, rats .... though it was phone invite only, in case anyone else was wondering, sadly. I'm just off to see if its been credited, as I checked when I got in from London last night and it had been settled.

EDIT: nope, freebie not credited yet. Grrrr.

DD has come home with a new challenge - a trip to China........in October.......at a cost of £1200.

Don't know whether to  or :rotfl:

She is currently brainstorming ways of getting to do it - it will be a test of how much she wants this.........

Sorry but this is going to be a rant, so
    a) what the hell is the SCHOOL thinking of suggesting such an expensive trip in the MIDDLE OF A RECESSION. Don't they know the families are struggling at the moment to put FOOD of the table let alone anything else.

    b) What on earth is the message being sent out about this, that the school are sanctioning a visit to one of the most repressive regimes on earth, where girls are STIL exposed at birth, so families can go and have a boy, where teenage girls are kidnapped now because there is a shortage caused by the above practice. They are held and repeatedly raped until they produce a baby. Where most of the internet is banned via censorship. Where copying fakes is ok. And where an unscrupulous group of people decided to put melanine in milk going to produce baby formula (to bulk the protein content up) and several dozen babies died of poisoning, and many hundreds were permanently damaged. And don't get me started on the million people that were forceably evicted off there lands so it could get flooded for a new reservoir, or the 1000's of politcal prisonser in jail - some of whom are only there because they dare to practice their Christianity.

Sorry but I hate that anyone supports this regime in a way that involves choice. Over here it is VERY difficult to buy clothes not made in China as 99% of them are. So reluctantly I buy them. But would I visit there absolutely no way.

I really hope that an intelligent person like you Hypno will question the school as to the above, so that they cancel the trip, not just because it is WAY to much money, but because it is morally reprehensible too.

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • Had to laugh at the bum shuffle comments, as my girls did that too. Eldest missed the crawling stage and went for walking nearly straight away. DD2 learned to walk in hospital..we seemed to be there more than at home and i can still see her now pushing a little ladybird pram into nurses legs:rotfl:DS was in a baby walker and soon was out of that an toddled around everywhere, he did a very quick crawl too..funny as i had him pegged down to be a fast swimmer :D
And the point that i was thinking about ..we used to have bum shuffle races across the carpet, with the children..some skills never leave you ( yep i bum shuffled as a baby too) great excercise and a lot of fun:rotfl::rotfl:

I also agree with Chev on the China front..but have always had a hankering to see the Great wall of China. Will content myself with piccies.:o
Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
