Yes, it certainly does feel good that the holidays etc are all being paid for in addition to the debtbusting, and not too much at the expense of it....and certainly without the debt going up at all. That has to be good enough!

I will definitely let you know how she gets on! It is tough when they are at the end of the school year for birthdays - some of her friends are almost 16 so will find it much easier to get a job, whereas she is not 16 until GCSEs finish!!
Hi
It's so good to see other people encouraging their kids to work. My DD managed to get herself a Sunday job in a local cafe / ice cream shop a few months ago and it has made a huge difference to her. Not only does she have money to spend on what she wants but her confidence has increased. Her birthday is also at the end of the year but she is the only one of her friends to get a job as their parents don't want them to ' ruin their childhood' by working as ' childhood is for having fun' !!! They are 15 / 16 yrs old young adults, not children.
She had written to a few people and phoned a couple but found that turning up with an introduction letter in hand worked best as people remembered her. It depends what kind of work your DD is looking for of course.0 -

She loves having her own money to spend, whether it is on clothes, presents for friends' birthdays, or saving up for bigger things, so she is certainly learning that if you want something you have to work for it, or else accept that the price you pay for not working, is not having the things you want!
Something that sadly is lacking from a whole generation (or two) and unless other teenagers change their views, we, as an economy, won't improve the appalling shape we are in at the moment!
So hurrah for teenagers working a few hours a week - it need not interfere with childhood, or schoolwork if it is done properly :TSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. Afternoon - a bit of help needed please if any one can - can you tell me where i might find a discussion thread / article about the policies you can take out so that if your cards are stolen you only have to ring one number and they cancel them all for you?
can;t find anything on here -
Thanks
Hope you are all having a good afternoon0 -
I think you just speak to your bank or card provider and they can sort it out for you and you can add all your other cards to the one policy. I'm not sure though - I always worked on the principal that anyone pinching any of my cards would be lucky to get any money out of them as they were all maxed out
Indeed, the one time my card was cloned, the thieves had it rejected when they wanted to use it because there was (as usual) no money and no available balance :rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. And if I had not confessed 18 months ago to my secured loan, it would mean I was in the £15s.......which would have been even better (although I would be cheating just a little bit!).....Successful women can still have their feet on the ground.
