Blood fish and bone - harmful to dogs?

I put some blood fish and bone into the large pot I'm growing a honeysuckle in, and now my dogs are paying it alot of attention.
Maybe it's just because it's a "new" smell I don't know. It does say on the box to keep it away from pets, but I presumed it meant so they wouldn't eat a boxful!
Does anyone know please if it will harm them?

It won't harm them, but it may block them up a bit. My dog ate a whole boxfull a couple of years ago and I had to give him some lactulose solution to help him along so to speak.
They will eat it if they can get hold of it, best to keep it out of reach. Licking up a bit from your soil shouldn't cause any problems but if they get the runs or seem blocked phone your vet for some advice.0 -
We have dogs and use blood and bone meal. Have you watered it in????? This seems to let it soak down and then they pay it less attention.Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0

Thanks all. I'll maybe water it in some more tomorrow. I can't dig it in as such unfortunately so that will have to do!:wave:0

My dog's sense of smell is terrible - he's getting on a bit - so thankfully I've not had the problem. Although giving his occasional 'accidents' around the house (he's a bit senile too) the idea that he might get 'blocked up' a bit wouldn't be a bad thing. LOL0

Well if want to plant daffodils at random in the lawn without hard work. Arrange a little accident with bonemeal or fish -blood and bonemeal here and there - the family spaniel will more than willing to help ! You follow the dog by dropping in a bulb in holes he has made and cover - Oh ! what joy when man finds someone else to do the hard bits of work in the garden.0
