My rhubarb has gone crazy!

Can anyone help. This is my third year of growing rhubarb. However from nowhere have sprouted triffids. Huge bulbous pinkish heads. Is it going to seed? Will it be ok or should I be doing something to it?
Thanks for any advice

Yes - It's seeding. Take the flower bracts off. It'll be fine, but the flowers take the strength out of the plant, so just take them off when they appear.0

It is flowering. Just cut them down. It will do them every year from now.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

I've had three so far this year, hopefully that should b it now.
I swear, I turned around for a couple of days and one of my rhubarbs has turned into something the size of a small car.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
Just been out to look at my patch and there is a massive flower forming on one of the crowns, I swear it wasn't there last night!Lotus-eater wrote: »I've had three so far this year, hopefully that should b it now.

I've swiftly cut it off. 0 -
I think it must be something to do with the early warm weather we've been having because I've had to remove about 10 "pink cauliflowers" from my two rhubarb plants. And it's producing more stems than we can eat. If the rest of my crops perform as well I will be a happy bunny.0

at what point should I pick rhubarb? do I go off length/width of the stems?
thanks0 -
should be ready to start picking now - and should crop for a while yet..

I wish mine were producing that many. I picked about five smallish stems last week and it was barely enough for a small crumble:sad:.I think it must be something to do with the early warm weather we've been having because I've had to remove about 10 "pink cauliflowers" from my two rhubarb plants. Mine has gone bonkers too. Will be pulling the stems today. Fortunately I have promised my SIL some of it as I don't have room in my freezer at the moment. I have been growing rhubarb for 30 years but I don't ever remember it cropping this well, this early.0
