Life Assurance - Should i get my money back?

I have two life assurances which i pay £50.00per month for both policies (£100.00 a month) one matures in 2017 and the other 2029. My question is should i cancel these and get my money back? I have already lost quite a bit of money on them. Thanks

What was the purpose of them?I have already lost quite a bit of money on them.
Most life assurance plans that obtain a value are not for actually making gains but as a by product or to aim to pay for future premium increases (which often fails as the plans that do this are typically obsolete and set up many years ago when rates were higher).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
