"Another Bank Stealth Charge"
or
"Another bank customer who doesn't read and understand the T&Cs of the account"
You decide!0 -
I was advised by the lady at travelex that all banks would charge. I know I've ordered money from travelex before online and I'm sure I haven't been charged in the past - I would surely know if I had!
Please can this be made more apparent in the travel money maximiser so that other MSE folks aren't hit with this horrible and utterly pointless charge?
I think it is ridiculous that Lloyds and others can do this - what interest to them is it what I do with my money?!?!?!?! Grrrrr!0 -
I'm with Alliance and Leicester and they never charged me in October last year to buy cash from the post office online. You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0

My husband bought some currency from the PO last year and paid with his First Direct debit card. For some reason the PO phoned the bank and the bank said it would charge him a currency transaction fee (or something like that).
I thought it was a total rip off. If he had bought £100 of stamps or TV licence or something else his bank would not have charged him. The fact that he bought £100 of currency through the PO is no reason at all for his bank to charge. As far as they are concerned he is paying £100 at the PO, it could be for anything.0 -
Halifax started charging me last year (after almost 20 years) as a cash withdrawal for paying Vernons by credit card for my pools entry with no warning - they said it was because it is gambling. It obviously became gambling only a year ago - anyone know what it was before then. As I never win I see it more as a charitable donation!!0

Most card companies changed their T&Cs to say that gambling transactions count as cash advances, recently - for the simple reason that they more or less are, and that you could use gambling sites as a way to get interest free money off your credit card.
Gambling transactions on your account don't endear you to a bank, at any rate.
