  • Thanks - I do feel that even though I thought I was doing the right thing by using creditexpert to view my credit file, although I can ensure that there isnt any incorrect info held on it, there are still so many things outside of my control

How did you check your credit rating?

For tips to improve your chances of credit card acceptance, have a look at the *Credit Rating: how it works and how to improve it guide* especially Martin's *Manage and Improve your credit score* article

13 months at 0% is currently available to new customers from Halifax on balance transfers made in the first 90 days. There's a 3% BT fee.
Minimum monthly payment is just 1% of the balance shifted.

I checked my score via creditexpert and check my credit file monthly to make sure it's correct, thanks for the info.

It's probably quicker to apply for another credit card, tbh ;)

I can't help thinking you've had a lucky escape. IME (and from feedback here), Abbey's customer service is dire.

The following is fairly typical of posts to this board, unfortunately. If you use the search facility, I'm sure you'll turn up some others.

This is happening to many people with good credit as of late.
I was shocked how much I was able to save just by living below my means.

Thanks Moggles - I have experienced their appalling customer service, I havent yet received the refusal in writing even though I have called them five times and been promised the letter has been sent on two occassions!!! Last promise was that it had been sent on the 9th April.....time for another call I think!

Abbey ALWAYS reject me; I have no idea why. I've got CCs with Egg, Virgin, Tesco, HSBC....all with very high limits, yet Abbey won't even give me the time of day. Their loss!
