Cleaning LCD Screen

Read mixed reviews on what the best thing to clean an LCD screen with is.
I have ISO alcohol but not sure if that'd be good on it. Obviously water is a no no! What about alochol wipes? Would the wipe be ok on the screen or is it not soft enough?
I have quite a stubborn mark on my screen and don't want to press harder incase I damage any pixels.

Damp, wrung out ecloth or other microfibre cloth. Needs to be slightly damp, but not wet.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

There was a thread on here a few months ago, and one suggestion was a pressure washer which (apparently) gets your screen really clean...
But the more popular option was a slightly damp micro-fibre cloth.
The Screen-Clene antistatic wipes that come in sachets also work well, but they are expensive for what you get, and static seems to be much less of a problem on LCD screens.0 -
DO NOT USE ALCOHOL!!!!! or wipes. That will damage plastic screens. You'll end up with permenant smears on the screen.
You're totally wrong about water, it is the correct thing to use, carefully. What you need is some dry micro-fibre clothes to remove dust, then dampen one to remove spots of dirt.
If the dirt is stubborn you can use a dilute solution of fairy liquid and dampen the micro fibre with that.
After you wash the screen you can go over it again with a dry microfibre.0 -
Thanks for the replies all
Will give a damp microfibre cloth a go when I get home

Where's the best place to buy cheap micro-fibre clothes?0

Tesco sell them very cheap. I got a shed load when I ordered some car cleaning parts. Opened the box and there were 5 free m/fibre cloths in there

If you can use distilled water (or, preferably, deionised water), that will be even better than ordinary tap water with the microfibre cloth...0

I have a tablet and the microfibre cloth which came with it is very fine...like silk.
It usually works well on its own but sometimes needs a bit of heavy breathing.0 -
micro fibre cloths are great at removing dust. But they wont remove fingermarks or general grime. I have 4 lcd screens and i use isopropyl alchohol (99.7%pure) to great effect with NO smears at all. If your alchohol is less than pure then it will smear, also, dont use a cloth that had had polish on it...0
