Discharge Notice

Hi all,

My boyfriend and I have recently purchased a property from the Housing Association. There is no chain either end so everything was going through pretty quickly. We've done everything including signing our contracts.

One final thing we are waiting for is a Discharge Notice from the Secretary of State (they must have to release the house as the Health Authority also owned a part of it?)

Has anyone had any experience with this before? Our solicitors are brilliant and have chased several times but I am just wondering whether this will take weeks or months? So far it's been a month for them to sign a bit of paper grrrr!

*Must be patient!*

I know this is a bit of a repeat/bump but has anyone been in this situation before?

We have now waited to move into this house for months (it is empty) and this bit of paper is still not signed. We keep getting the message from the Health Trust that it'll be any day now. It's been like that for weeks!

We are currently paying house insurance for a house we're not living in because we had to get that sorted for the mortgage and them saying 'any day now' was a signal to get everything in place.

I gave 2 months rent on my flat which I thought was ages, but that is coming to an end and we won't have anywhere to live (back home to parents?!).

I understand moving houses is frustrating and stressful but waiting on one bit of paper for weeks/months is ridiculous.

Is there anything we can do? Obviously we can't talk to the government directly so everything relies on solicitors and the health trust.

    Many thanks

    Gemma
