Help with Digital Aerial

Hi
I recently brought this 40 db gain indoor digital aerial for 18 pounds at Argos . It was highly recommended , I put it into my house and connected to my Freeview box with gain on full. No signal says the freeview box. I connected my age old analogue aerial on rooftop to my digital aerial's amplifier and then connected that to the freeview box . Excellent reception. The analogue roof top aerial when directly connected to freeview box also produces good reception. I was wondering whether buying this aerial was a waste of time and money or is it because I have been doing something wrong. What are the things I can do to improve reception from my digital aerial.

Inside I am THINKING.

There is no such thing as a digital aerial, and yes, sadly it looks like you wasted your money.
Albertross is spot on.
Hope you can get a refund. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
There is very unlikely to be an aerial with 40dB gain either - 11 to 18 dB seems more typical. The specified gain may include an amplifier as well, but that also amplifies noise, so cannot improve a poor signal from the aerial.0
