sun blinds, my suckers dont suck
not sure if this is the right place but its car related.
my hatchback has a quite an angled rear window and this sun is flooding through it so i bought a sunscreen/blind/shade thing that uses suckers.
they keep unsucking themselves!! minutes after i put it up 2 came unstuck, so changed it thinking it was a defect, but this ones the same.
they look pretty flimsy next to the baby on board ones, but they wouldnt be reordering them if everyone had my problem.
it was suggested i clean the glass with an alcohol wipe that they gave me but that hasnt helped. cleaned it with dilute vinegar till the glass squeaked.
any suggestions please. can you buy the sucker things seperately? anyone got a type that they could reccommend?
in the meantime, i have one very hot dog

Try Halfords. They used to sell spare suckers for their window blinds. Not sure if they still do.
We have Privacy Shades on our Corsa. Expensive at around £110 per set but they work brilliantly and can be removed:

They are made from a mesh that fit with tiny clips against the rear windows. The man without a signature.0 -

Di,
I've spent £70 on various forms of stick on sun blinds and I think something fitted like the ones you have found are the only way to go. The others break in one way or another very quickly and I managed to get a sucker trapped inside the door jamming the rear electric window open once because I forgot they were there
That's another £57 for the car dealer to take the door apart for me, not money saving, but it was raining and I was in a real hurry. 0 -
I've used these Privacy Shades for over a year now without a hint of a problem. They really are the bees knees. DD1&2 like them because it encloses the whole rear area. This also hides their DVD screens, Nintendo DS's and other junk from prying eyes. Also having the whole rear covered means they can see the screens without sunlight shining on them.
They were so easy to fit even for a numpty like me. 2 clips per window. On the rear quarterlights they wedge in. Clips were provided for the rear window but I never bothered to use them as they lodge in place using the wiper motor housing and the parcel shelf widget where the cord hangs from.
If we transport adults we remove them so they can have a view. If we forget to window lock the rears, then they can't throw anything out.
We looked at some Aussie window socks which have fabric over the outer door frame. These looked horrible. On one car there was bird poop on one and the other side had caught on a branch and was tearing. The man without a signature.0 -
ordered and should be arriving thursday. i really hope they are easy to fit cos if anyone can mess it up its me!
the sucky things fell off overnight, cheap and nasty thing it is.0 -
Hello..
Right, first post, so cant post links..
But..
Blinds are POINTLESS for cars..
If you have little kids in the back of a hot car, its a nightmare, blinds fall off, or get pulled, and if you have big windows, and the blind is small you constanly have to move the blind around to shade the kids..
Have you ever thought of Window Tinting... Its not just for drug dealers, it serves a perpose. Its there for style, privacy, cuts 99% of UV rays, and up to 80% of solar heat!...
Try Solar-Shades .eu (www. before) and get them to give you a quote, they have done a fair few cars, so know there stuff,
So save your money, gets window film, instead of blindes, add value to your car, and save petrol, as cutting heat, means no air con, which inturn saves petrol!0
