In Praise of ... Currys

I can't quite believe I am saying this, but I am really impressed with Currys!

Bought a microwave from them seven months ago, it keeps cutting out so took it back today. From past experience and from reports on here, I expected them to offer (at most) a repair. However, I went in, explained the problem, and was offered an apology (rare in any shop nowadays) and a replacement!

Very impressed ... and it's not often I say that about anyone! ;)
Gone ... or have I?

Years ago their refund and replacement policy was awful but it seems they've got better..

I have noticed a change as well. I think they have probably had an overhaul of their customer service in order to protect themselves during the recession (for the record I hate that word). Its all good though, hopefully more organisations will follow suit

I bought a laptop with a year long warranty from curry's and after 363 days (at about 4pm on a Friday) it stopped working. We called up the helpline and were told they would collect from us on the Monday. We were concerned that would take us out of the warranty but they insisted that as we called on the Friday (Day 363) we would be ok.

They came at 9am on the Monday, and returned it fully functional on the Wednesday. We were more than happy than that result.
  • Well I bought a new tv from Currys a few weeks ago and it was second hand, had the previous owners personal details (name, house number & postcode) already stored in it.

Fair enough, Currys replaced it when I called up. But as yet they still haven't bothered replying to my letter of complaint so I've got the local trading standards office involved.

I'm glad dmg24 had a good experience with them. But I think they're just about the worst on the high street.

All microwaves are code 5 items except panasonic (not sure about samsung)

This means they are a straight swap in the even tof a fault, so even though panasonic are a better brand its more of a pain in the backside when something goes wrong as panasonic insist on repair
