Hi everyone,
I have a Paypal account for quite a while now as I used to buy few things on Ebay here and there, but never used it for anything else.
Now I spend more time on Ebay and I also sold a couple of items, which were paid for by Paypal.
I never transfered money to my account before and never set up the details - but now I've realised that as the Paypal account is in my maiden name and my bank account in my married name I cannot confirm that "the name you are inputting is exactly the same as on your cheque book".
I contacted Paypal about this and they want scanned copies of loads and loads of documents for the change of name (bank statements, ID, marriage certificate - you name it).
I am thinking it might be easier to close this Paypal account and open a new one... (and just spend the couple of quit I have got there).
Do you think that by my email address they will track me that I have a new account in different name and stop it or request the paperwork anyway or something?

a freind of mine came to me with a similar problem last year. She was seperated from her husband and using her maiden name so thought nothing of registering under this name, however she didn't consider the fact that her bank account was still in her married name, she went through the palarvar of changing her name on the account but the amount of info they requested and the fact they requested it several times seemed very excesive and it took three weeks in total to change her name on the account.
it may be easier to close it and open a new account, but you will probably need a new email as i think even when you close the account paypal keep your details on file and even after closing the account you'll probably still get the These details are already registered message.
as far as i'm aware i don't think it breaks any rules to close the account and open up a new one so it is probably the simplest route to go down.0 -

I know I can get new email easy - it's just to remember where everything is and passwords on which one is on what... If I don't use anything for while I forget straight away.0
