More advice needed on home information packs (HIPs)

Why do we not have more information on this site regarding home information packs (HIPs)?
When searching online they are on offer from between £185 to £400, so which is the best to buy?
What should we be looking out for? Are there different types of packs? Who are the registered bodies that these firms should be registered with?
I always come on here before doing anything that involves making a purchase of any kind and I am a little bit disappointed that this information is still not available.
Edited so I do not sound rude (Sorry) LOL

You're off to a good start by being rude which will not encourage people to help you.
Anyway look on this link and much is revealed.

Sorry if that come across as a little rude as that was not my intention.
I think that my point was meant to be that with this site being such a massive help to all and the fact that it must have saved people Millions of pounds since its launch, I was a little disappointed at the lack of info available.
But thank you for your reply it is very much appreciated.

Until the government made the Property Information Questionnaire (PIQ) a compulsory part of the HIP there was something to be said for this view where title was straightforward registered freehold.
Now the PIQ contains questions which contain traps for the unwary which might mean the seller ends up getting sued for misrepresentation. There are also questions where the literally right answers could confuse a potential buyer and cause him to change his mind about a proeprty based on a misunderstanding of the position.
In my view, therefore, the answers given in the PIQ need to be checked and the seller advised about how to complete it. I doubt whether the very cheap HIP providers will be able to do this.RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -

Surley if you start the answers with "to the best of my knowledge" you can not be sued0 -

Probably not, but not everyone thinks of doing that.
However, I would be a little wary of using the word "best".
"I do not know of any, but have not made further checks..." might be better.RICHARD WEBSTER
