Thin red line

I have a Toshiba Equium laptop which is about 2 1/2 years old. A thin, vertical red line has appeared on my screen. It is about .5mm thick and is there all the time.
What has caused this and how can I get rid of it? Help!

It's almost certainly a partial failure of the edge connector at the top or bottom of the screen.
AFAIK the only effective remedy is to replace the screen, which for a laptop of that age probably won't be worth it.
You can sometimes improve things by gently squeezing the screen surround above or below the defective area. Someone on this forum reported using a clothes peg to "cure" the problem, but that didn't work for my similarly faulty Sharp monitor.0 -
Thank you. Squeezing has not worked so I guess I will have to live with it until I change my computer.Be nice to people who are on their way downYou never know when they are going to pass you on their way back up againYou cannot light your own candle by blowing out someone else's0
