eBay seller tried to put price up x10 after auction - help please!

Hi,

I recently won an item on eBay for a set of computer equipment.

http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170319421963&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:IE:1123

It only sold for 499euros because the seller put it as a "business for sale" rather than computer equipment so I definitely got a bargain, especially as the listing specifically said free P&P to the UK.

However, when I asked for an invoice I got this reply from the seller: -
The bidding starting price is 499.99 and the selling price is 9,950 euros. Please go and check the total product. This include 12 Computer CPU, 12 flat screen, 12 shairs, 6 removable computer table, 6 Computer Camers, printer, etc and U want to buy it for 499,99 euros? The total Kg put together is b/t 350kg to 400kg.

Wexnet
Can I insist I pay the original price as there's no mention of this "selling price" on eBay? Or am I missing something (new to eBay so not really sure how it all works!)?

Is it best to give it up as a lost cause if he's trying to mess around on prices and will it affect my eBay account if they can see I've bought something but haven't paid for it?

Thanks for your help :).

You can't make him sell, all you can do is do a non performing seller complaint on him and leave a neg. You could also report him, if you wish, for fee avoidance for not setting a reserve and yet imposing one on the auction.

He has some FVfs to pay there so watch that he doesn't try a claim to get them back.

He's only just registered and it's his first sale, so he obviously doesn't understand the ebay process.

I very much doubt insisting to have the lot for €499 will get you anywhere, so just report him, and leave a negative saying "buyer refused to sell full lot for winning bid price" or similar.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I suspect pinkshoes meant to say seller. I'm just being pedantic though. :)

No, you can't make him sell at that price.

    No, you can't sue him.

Yes, you can give negative feedback.

Yes, he can relist the business (and block your ID from bidding if he wants to)

I doubt whether it will affect your feedback as you want to pay the price you offered.

How would it affect the buyers feedback anyway?

All that will happen is that seller's feedback will fall like a stone and seller may even risk suspension on basis of 5% buyer disatisfaction rule and the number of warnings placed on seller dashboard. Assuming anyone would bother bidding anyway on a seller with only 2 feedback and one of those a neg for refusing to sell.

Hence the word "doubt" in the sentence.

Thanks for all your feedback everyone :). Was just making sure I wasn't being really stupid and confused about how eBay worked - will put it down as a bargain too far!

No doubt at all anymore since sellers can only leave positives.

Probably not helping but just wanted to point out that although it did say free P&P, that is because its a collection only item, which means you would have had to go pick it all up.

    On the item is says:
    Postage:
To United Kingdom -- FREE P&P
    International Economy Service
    Service to United Kingdom
I assumed that meant they would pay to courier it.
