Work and getting started with it!

Mmm - well did not get that started yesterday - although did go to two 'fun' meetings

So back to list tonight when I get in - will ignore children, demands for food (the first question DS always asks is not 'How are you Mum, have you had a good day' (in my dreams) but 'What's for dinner?'
Wanted to quote from a really helpful post but can't work out how to do that.
I MUST DO THIS (only shouting to self honestly)

Not quoted properly but Slint Chick's very helpful suggestions were:
My suggestions are:
* Work from the office if at all possible, as you are more likely to actually work rather than be distracted. Some people do work better from home, but if you're not one of them then go into the office and act as if you're out - put on the out of office reply, turn your phone to silent, and just get on.
Good idea but hate going in to office and 'not allowed' to turn phone off. When I have been effective at home I really have got lots done - think I need to get back to that.
*Make a list of everything that needs doing, then divide it up into sections. How you do this bit is up to what suits you, but some people do it by urgent, later and delegate, and I like to do it by how long something will take me. I then do all the short jobs so I can tick a load off.
Going to trry this toninght when I get in
*Have some admin days where you block out the time, warn your colleagues, and just do your admin.
I must do this - I have but tend then to 'give them away' cancelling to do things I think are important too - and they are but the result is my admin gets further and further behind
*Get a process in place so in future you do all your admin as you go along. I used to have to raise purchase orders in my last job, and I kept a spreadhseet with all the info, and once I had all I needed to raise the Po, I would raise it immediately, so I knew it was done. Those people who did them 'once a week' invariably got very behind on them.
Hope to do this - when I get in to do basic admin first - so file notes etc and then allocate a time on an admin slot to write reports.
Really the only way round it is to just do it. try not logging onto the net when you work, so you can;t be tempted to look at MSE or other websites.
And if you really can't cope and need someone to do some admin for you as a virtual PA - PM me!
- sounds wonderful!:T 0 -
You're not a CRA/monitor by any chance are you?

No Nic - not sure what a CRA is! Rather not say too much - maybe my boss reads this.
Got back about 6pm and feeling too tired to start my plan. Maybe to be realistic I need to start at the weekend! :rolleyes:0 -
I understand you don't want to divulge too much into what you do! Just remember you work to live, not live to work.0
