Got letter from A&L on Friday saying my PPI may have been missold and to contact them by phone. Did this and they asked why I thought it had been missold. I said that I have very good cover through my work, also I have a pre-existing condition which they never asked about and finally during the call to set up the loan I had told them I did not want this cover!!! I was shocked to find out that I was actually paying this when they sent me a statement recently (1st one have ever had!!) They said to progress the claim they would need to send me out a questionnaire to fill out. I was just wondering if anyone has had one of these and what was in it??????

The questionnaire should just cover all the questions you were asked over the phone.

    Hi Carol

Like what Pinknico says they should already be covered when you taken out the policy, this is just one of those stalling tactics they tend to use.

Its up to you if you want to complete it, where they may just give you an offer, but what many have done here, is write back and tell them, all the information they require should be held on their systems when they sold you the finance, so please refer to them.

    Good luck.;)

It sounds as though you have a very strong case here.
How much was the PPI? and when did you take the loan out?
I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.

However, I have since seen the light.

This is gonna sound terrible, but I have no idea how much the PPI was as I had no idea I was paying it!!! They have only recently sent me a statement which give only the outstanding amount (which is more than the original loan!!) and mentions the PPI. Took the loan out in 2007. I have a pre cancerous condition of the throat which they never asked about, in fact they asked very little.
I did tell them about the comprehensive sickness cover I have included with my job.

So sorry to hear of your condition, hope youve' recovered from this now.
    All the best.

The way you can find out is if you do not have the agreement for this, write to them and request for a copy of this, enclose a £1 postal order or cheque payment to cover the cost for this request, they should supply this to you by 12 days.

    Hope this helps.
    Good luck.;)

Do you have a copy of the agreement? It should tell you on there how much PPi was included in the Loan.

In the same boat and I took out a £12k loan in October 2005. Just discovered the total PPI is £2372:16!! Certainly worthwhile tryng to recoup that as I am self-employed.

Wow ours was for 10k in 2007 so if its even close to the amount you have said definitely worth it. Still do not have questionnaire!

A quick update to this. Today I received an offer from A&L which is a refund of all the payments made from May 2007 till June 2009 on top of this is interest at 8%. A total of around £350. Does this seem right???
I thought they added the PPI onto the loan right away and you pay interest on this as well. So is the 8% this interest on the loan or just 'penalty' interest.
Now cannot find the bloomin statement they sent although seem to remember it didn't say much!
Any idea what to do next?

    Hi there

Please remind me is this a settled loan or still active?

If settled then they should repay you every single amount of PPI and interest, if active then they repay you what you paid so far within the PPI made on the loan repayments, however, ask them for a Full written breakdown of this as soon as you can, they should be able to send you this through the post.

How long have they given you to accept this or not?
