Is DRO for me? Anyone had one?

Hello,
Wondering whether you could help me and give me some further information about a Debt Relief Order.
I have a few questions:
Is your bank account closed like it would be for bankrupcy?
Will I need to tell my landlord. I rent privately through the council but have no rent arrears and never have.
Will the DRO stay on my file for along time. I am currently at college and would like to open a salon in a few yrs, would a DRO affect this?
My income is currently made up of benefits, as I am a student at the moment at college. I receive child benefit, tax credits, IS and child maintenance.
I have about £10,000 worth of debt and I am quite embarrassed about it, but for the sake of my sanity and my baby, (people are calling all the time for payments! And I am pretty scared they'll come to my house soon) I wish to sort this out.
I feel really angry talking about this, as it is my problem and my fault that I got into debt. I moved house, had to get the depo and rent together and for that to happen, payments to the creditors were missed. And it just never got better I guess.
I'm just hoping that I can get this sorted soon so I can look forward to a bright, debt free future with my son!
Sorry for all the questions! I already feel better for talking about it and hopefully starting to get it sorted.
Had anyone had a DRO that can give me some info?
Many thanks to anyone that can offer some help

Hi Rach,
I can't offer you any real advice I'm afraid but I wanted to wish you all the best for the future, it was when I got pregnant I realised how important getting out of debt was, my daughter is 16months now and I'm still not where I'd like to be but we're getting there! An expert will be along soon to answer your questions!Started PADdin' 13/04/09 paid £7486.66 - CC free 02/11/10

Have a look at this (now long) thread on the Bankruptcy board.
