npower econ 7 tarriff
Hi I'm trying to ensure my pensioner dad who has just moved into a rented prop after separating from his wife has a good deal as he has NO money.
He is on MIDE D1T tarriff. I cant find it on their web site. Do you know how much it is per unit night and day?
thanks

Hi paberley1
The MIDE D1T refers to Midlands Electricity and D1T refers to Economy 7. This isn't a tariff, it is the identity of the region and tariff type. MIDE is the West Midlands code (id14). If you look at the Economy 7 tariff for your dads postcode you can then compare on one of the comparison sites.
The current tariffs will depend what plan your dad is on with npower, for example the Economy 7 No Standing Charge tariff for id14 is:
23.10p per kWh (day)
16.11p per kWh (day) above 728 kWh p.a
4.57p per kWh (night)
Day - Winter (GMT) 7am to 12 midnight - Summer (BST) 8am to 1am
Night - Winter (GMT) 12 midnight to 7am - Summer (BST) 1am to 8am
The key thing to look out for with Economy 7 tariffs is the amount of electricity being used "at night". Generally it needs to be at least 20% at the cheapest time (midnight onwards ish). If your dad has storage heaters then it's probably ok, but I'm sure others will come along with better info.
