VHS to DVD

I want to make legitimate backup copies (for use in the car DVD player on a long European trip this summer) of various Disney VHS cassettes, but they have some kind of copy protection embedded in them.

Is there any way to overcome this, as so far the Universal brand films we have tried all copy without any trouble. Could it be that I need some kind of hardware dongle/decoder on the output signal from the video player?

Conduct a google search for "Macrovision Defeater". Or just "macrovision" on ebay, and you will find some stabalizer's. The other way is to purchase two of the old "cheap" VHS recorders that were originally sold at places like Tesco's which very often didn't include the macrovision detection chip, so copying via such players\recorders was simply like copying a standard vhs cassette.

It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.
