Kids passport applications & their divorced dad!

I'm helping a friend complete a renewal passport application for her 2 children (11 & 13).
In the application form, there is a section that HAS to be completed, which asks for Father's details.
(Since their last passports, my friend has been divorced from her husband).
She can supply the following:-
-His Name
-Date/ Place of birth
-Nationaility
-Date of marriage
However, she cannot supply the following details:-
-Passport Number
-Issue date
It was an acrimonious split & divorce - it was a very abusive & violent relationship.
How can we supply these details, when we dont have them & there is no chance of getting them - esp as there is NO WAY my friend will not go within a million miles of this animal?
Its not their 1st passport if thats of any use

I applied for a new passport recently and I think the bit about the parents' passports is to make sure the person applying is a British citizen and entitled to a passport. I didn't put my parents details in because I didn't know them and it didn't matter. The fact that they are getting renewals and not a first passport will mean the passport office will see right away they are enititled to a passport. You can phone the advice line 24 hours a day so get your friend to give them a quick ring and make sure.0

Just leave those bits blank. When I applied for my daughter's passport I didn't fill those details in because neither OH or I have a passport!Dum Spiro Spero0

If this is a straight forward renewal she does not need to fill in this info, I did not for my childrens renewals as I did not speak to their dad and was not going to be able to get the info.
as already suggested she should phone passport line for confirmation.TOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0 -
THanks - will call in the 'morning0

Just wanted to say I am sure that getting the passport will be easy enough...when I had to apply for my daughter's first passport, the only info I could give about her father was his name! Sounds awful but that's it...I did pop in an accompianing letter which explained the reasons, but they never questioned anything and she got her passport through very quickly.:j 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts' - DFW Nerd member 866 :j0

I'm also applying for my childrens 1st passports. My daughters father is not on her birth certificate (a childish move by him to try and hurt me yaddah yaddah) so i assume i would leave those details blank? Also my husband and i have a son together, he was registered under my maiden name (as we weren't married when he was born) so do i have to send in my marriage certificate too?
Thanks all x0 -
Bravobeastie - I would give passport office a call and check that one. You dont want to be sending important docs if they are not needed. They are very helpful on the phone, well the few times I have called they have been :-).0

I wouldn't worry too much, i renewed my son's a year ago, I too am divorced from his father, his father doesn't have a passport so i couldn't put the details in either, and no one called or wrote to me about it. You don't need the extra info,Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0 -

With regards to your son, you could actually get him re-registered with your married name if you wanted to seeing as you have now married his father.A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
