Toshiba x3030 42" - 2nd hand fair price?

I've got the opportunity to purchase a 2nd hand Toshiba x3030 42" lcd which is AFAIK around 13-14 months old.
My sister in law is moving house and sadly this TV is not compatible with her room sizes & furniture so reluctantly she's forced to sell it to get something a little smaller.
She's offered me the opportunity to buy it but has not yet suggested a price. I'm trying to figure out a fair reasonable price as well as check it's a decent buy.
It's been on a high table (out of kids hands) and well looked after it. It has been on for a fair few hours per day (1 preschool kid, one older). AFAIK there's no extra warranty cover.
From the reviews, whilst not perfect, and obsolete (ie > 1 year old.. ;-) )it looks decent enough. SD will likely look a bit rubbish but it'll likely force me to start some upgrades into HD. If I was buying new I'd probably end up with a 37-40, probably decent sony-ish and spend 700-1000 but can't afford that right now.
ebay going price appears to be around 450 UKP from dealers with a 1 year warranty .. and I think that's new? certainly the 500 is
That's making me think warranty -50, 1 yr -100 so the price would be more like 300.
That seems low? is it fair?

Ebay's not a bad guide of how much things are worth. Things are only worth what people will pay for them. If it's £500 new, or at least refurbished with a warranty, £300-£350 is a decent price to offer. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0

Some notes for you: Does she have the box still? Do not lay these things on their side, but keep upright! You will need a van for transport. If you think "SD will likely look a bit rubbish" then it always will to you. It's not in the top "brand" name category! What does it sound like ? Will it match your living room ? What if you don't like it, your SIL does not now, either! If you "upgrade" you say you can't afford to buy new but you need a warranty good sound and as new and delivery, what does that cost. Go see a few others in the shops. Ask to loan it for a months trial, see how you get on with it first, then give a fair price. Check out the plasma ranges. What will you use it for ?0

Thanks for the proping questions to challenge my thought process!
* Some googling suggests flat is more of an issue for LCD? I'll need to check this out more
* Good point about the box
* SD - Ok I was being negative there. I'm just being realistic
* brand. May not be top notch, but should be decent
* fit/living room - yes no prob
* warrranty - it's a risk, comes down to how much that's worth
* trial - isn't reallistically going to work
It's a risk, but opportunity to replace a 32" CRT & hold-off on a major lcd purchase until the new LED backlit models come into play. What goes around - comes around

I had the 32" version of this screen for a while and it wasnt bad. I would say £300 is a fair price for it. LCD has been moving on leaps and bounds over the last couple of years, so tech has improved. Tosh is a good brand.
As for laying flat, you shouldn't lay any large screen flat panel screen flat. Its nothing to do with LCD or plasma, but the weight of the glass and the pressures on it in transit that can cause it to crack. As a rule of thumb, always transport flat panel screens upright.0
