I have inhereted £200,000 and i cannot get any sense from banks and advisers...any ideas ?

You dont go to banks for advice. They employ salesmen/women.
You need to seek advice from an IFA. With that amount you ought to see a portfolio/investment specialist IFA as well and not a general service IFA.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
