I absolutely know we'll have to compromise on something but I can't believe what we want is so hard to find and I dont want to leave any stone unturned!
I have been surprised that estate agents are not keener to try to tell me about suitable properties they have. So at the moment its just us and rightmove. Any suggestions or advice appreciated.
The EAs I've spoken to haven't been gushing the usual claptrap either and come across as being a lot more matter of fact which is nice and I think what they do say is a lot more believable.
If you're in a good position to make an offer if the right property came up you could do what a friend of mine did - she really wanted to live in a certain road so wrote a nice letter and delivered it to all the houses - she got a reply and ended up buying her dream house!
This is what we may end up doing too - we want to move to a small town where not many houses are on the market and we also need a double garage. I already know the roads that have what we need. The seller doesn't need to pay EA fees so everyone's a winner.
One other website I've looked on is zoopla, bit complicated to explain but you may find something on there. It's not the same as the other sites, but for example, I've clicked on my house and indicated that it's mine and that I am selling it, so anyone looking in my area for a property will see it's for sale. I did this before I went on the market officially and have found a few houses on there that aren't anywhere else. It's early days for unconventional property selling but I think it's picking up a bit?...
Globrix is good if you're looking for a specific type of home as you can narrow your search down ie display double garage properties only, but I'm not sure they've got anything that RM hasn't.
Lastly, I was surprised at how many properties there were on ebay!!!
Good Luck - my dad says you always need to compromise on a property unless you're loaded (but so long as he got his double garage he was happy )0 -

Some Estate Agents in my area (Paul Carr, Acres) don't advertise on Rightmove anymore but they are on Globrix or FindAProperty..0 -

To answer the original question Mouseprice.com shows days on market for every listing.
Globrix has good coverage.0 -

Globrix has good coverage.
Yes, but they don't show 'every' listing for an area, just those they 'scrape' from either agents' websites, or from portals like Rightmove - so if they're not pulling in all the websites or portals, they'll have an incomplete picture.
To get back to the OP's question - for any given property, why not just ask the agent who's selling it?
Footnote - I just looked at mouseprice for the largest town in my county; it has 2 properties listed, one of which went Under Offer in 2009. After those two, there's almost 6 pages of properties outside the town, and miles away from its actual postcode. There's currently over 50 properties for sale in this town with various agents, so what value is there in the 2 properties shown on mouseprice?
Also, most of those listed on mouseprice aren't actual listings, merely what they call 'property flirts', the equivalent of zoopla's 'tempt me' - where owners put their target price, and encourage browsers to contact them......0 -
