The thought did cross my mind, she also kept going on about how nice the street was and do we own the house? :eek:0 -
don't worry about her, i've had worse. when i first started selling on ebay i didn't realise paypal were giving out my phone number. one sunday i had a customer ring me up while i was having sunday lunch with my family to "enquire" about the status of his item, he bought it friday afternoon and it was only sunday!! did he think i was sending it by currier pidgeon:rotfl:
but worst still why i am talking to this guy on the phone my partner told me someone was at the door, when i got there it was a buyer who said he "was just in the area" (he lived 50 miles away) and had come for his item, he never contacted me to ask if it was ok to call or even juist notify me out of politeness that he might call. He was the first unannounced buyer to turn up on my door step out of normal working hours but he wasn't the last leading me to change my address to a p.o. box address.
Thats the down side to ebay sometimes, it intoduces you to people you might otherwise cross the street to avoid :rotfl:0 -
Flipping heck Cyril! I must be really naive, it wouldn't occur to me that anyone would even consider doing that. I feel a bit better knowing I'm not the only one to get a loopy buyer though. I think she probably is just a bit strange rather than anything sinister, it bothers me though that she got a good look inside the house and somehow managed to get quite a lot of information from me just from chatting (where I work, I live with my husband etc.). None of this stuff is exactly secret and could easily be found out from a quick Google but it still makes me uncomfortable.
I've emailed her back anyway saying I'm sorry she's not happy and have asked her to either post the shoes or let me know when she wants to come and get her refund. I now have visions of her wanting to turn up at random times hoping we won't be in... :rotfl:0 -
it may only be 99p, but its also the principle! buyers on ebay want the earth nowadays, (she's probably just changed her mind) if it was me i'd stand my ground & not refund..why not tell her to resell, that's what i've done on many occasions.
paying cash on collection means pretty much no buyer or seller protection, so don't worry on that account.
reagrds to the possible neg, most of the best sellers have one now, use the feed back button to respond, it certainly wont affect any of your future selling..good luck! :A0 -
I'd send her a cheque for a pound and tell her to put the shoes in a shoe bin. I know we all love saving a bit of money but HOW TIGHT are some people!0

I hate to be alarmist, but I would be worried that she may have cased the place and come back when she knows you're not in, having the "I've come for my refund" as an alibi should she get stopped by anyone. I'd send her a refund for sure asap and let your neighbours know to be on the lookout for strange visitors! They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -

to be honest i wouldn't worry too much, she sounds a little strange but not dangerous.
When i was selling professionally on ebay i was making hundreds of sales a week so i came across a few "strange characters" but none aggressive or dangerous.
in fact my only online experience of an aggressive and potentially dangerous person was when my partner bought a camera off Amazon which was described as new but clearly wasn't when received, since it was to be a Christmas present she asked for a refund if she returned it, she rang the guy to check his returns policy and even though i was across the room i could hear him shouting very aggressively at my partner so took the phone and it ended up with him telling me he was 20 stone of muscle, his dad was a marine and he was trained in hand to hand combat and he had my address and was going to "pay me a visit". To be honest i laughed at him at the time but he could have been a lunatic, anyway i reported him to amazon, they gave us a refund he got his camera back and he ended up sending a very humble apology by email...
so even that potentially dangerous situation came to nothing and i do not personally in all my experience know of any instances of someone being burgled or assaulted by a person they did business with online, but i did used to air on the side of caution and try to discourage collections from my home.
Just give her a quid via paypal and file this one under "x files" i'm sure there’s nothing more to it than that..0
