Hi Guys,
Not sure if I'm in the right place here, but hope you can help. I'm 25 weeks pregnant with my first child and have been looking for buggies. We've seen and like the Trenton Travel System in Mothercare (it's made by Graco), but wondered if anybody has this and if so what their opinions of it are?? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle

I had the Graco 2YK (5 years ago now), the system itself I cant fault, the main prob for me was the weight, and bulk (something that I did not consider properly). It also required two hands to put up and down or detach the car seat, this wasnt really an issue with one child but with two!!!!.
It has probably been modified by now, but my advise would be really check it out and consider what use you will require it for. I've just bought a new pram (my 3rd is due very soon) its the Bebe Confort Loola, very easy to put up and down, folds *quite* small, and is fairly lightweight. Best of all I can have various acessories on it ie a carrycot. (I now do the school run 4 times a day).

the ones with a carseat on top i dont like much TBH (tried one with my 2nd son)
they are fine as a pushchair when baby is older but tiny babies tend to get "lost" in them and i hate to see babies in the carseat part on top of the pushchair : ( (fine for a quick shop etc i know but not on a looooooooooong shopping trip etc)
id be more inclined to go for something like a mamas and papas pliko pramette (2nd hand on ebay)0 -
One of the reasons I'm considering the Trenton is that I can very easily fold and unfold it one handed. You literally just have to roll part of the handle forwards and it collapses on top of itself, and to put it up you just have to pull the handle bar up and it unfolds itself.
It is a bit heavy, and at the moment both dh and I drive fiestas, (although we are hoping to change at least one of them before Fidget arrives) and I was a bit concerned about how easily it will fit in the boot. I can lift it, but it's not like I could sling it over my shoulder!!
This is it Here do the dimensions seem big at all? I have no idea what I should be looking for. I like that it has the carrycot option included, although this is for newborns and I appreciate it wont be suitable for very long, but the main seat also lays flat.
Can you tell I'm getting my knickers in a knot!!

I tried the M&P pramette in the shop and it was SO hard to fold and unfold. The woman showing me kept saying "dont forget that or it'll break".
You're right about the car seat option - great for a quick trip round the shop, but the advice now is that tiny babies shouldnt spend more than 2 hours at a time in the car seats.I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. really ? : ( ive had plikos in the past and they were fab ,but not the pramette
best thing is to go into babies r us ,mothercare ,independent baby shops and spend a good time trying out them all lol0 -
Well we both found them difficult - although that's probably us!!
There were 3 or 4 'movements' to do to put up / down and the woman in the shop agreed it was def a 2 handed job!! Thing I really didnt like though was that in order to fold it you HAD to lock the swivel wheels back in place, and put the brake on AND then tip the whole pushchair onto its back wheels - before you even attempted to fold it. Just seemed a bit complicated to me!! Couldnt imagine trying to explain to grandparents how to do it! The final thing that swung it for me was that the M&P ones only come with a 6 month guarantee, and the woman in the shop actually had the cheek to say "that only covers manufacturing faults, if it's user error they'll be able to tell and you wont be covered"!!

yeah plikos are deffo 2handed folding lol
never had the prob of locking the wheels and all that malarky though
wow the trenton IS heavy isnt it
what about something like this : http://www.kiddicare.com/invt/trsgcomosaicerthmot - pushchair part only 6.7kg or this http://www.kiddicare.com/invt/chijutravtriom which has the 3 parts to it0 -
Hi MrsB
I'm not sure if you know this, as many people don't but some of Mothercare's 'own' products are actually made by Graco, and branded with Mothercare (travel systems, swings, pushchairs) designs and fabric. The Trenton is exactly the same as the Graco Quattro Deluxe, only you generally get a bit more with the Graco, and the Graco is cheaper.
Before we had our baby (now 11.5mths, bless her) we spent days and hours going to loads of different shops, and we ended up with the Graco QD. I love it, and still use it now, as well as a smaller pushchair for little trips.
I'm not sure if you get the autobase with the Graco, but you must make sure you get this if you do buy this system, it makes for so much of an easier life when putting baby in and out of car.
It is fairly weighty, but you only notice that when you're putting it in/out of car, though I ended up with a section, and the weight was never a major issue.
If you have any more questions, I'm happy to answer them!

ETA: Sorry, I just noticed you do know it's made by Graco, silly me!If you have good thoughts, they'll shine out of your face like sunbeams & you'll always look lovely.0 -
In the Feb issue of Which? magazine the Trenton was the best travel system, beating the Graco Mirage, M&P A3 Pramette, Bebe Confort and more, but wasn't recommended for use on public transport as was the heaviest one on test, but folds well and stores well too

Yes I agree with Hails this one does seem to be the best 'allrounder' apart from the public transport. I do hope which? were right because I went out and bought a trenton . BTW if you open a mothercare account card at the time you buy it, you will get 10% off (which we did) and used the discount to buy the car seat base which unfortunately is extra. The base stays in the car all the time so there is not fiddling about trying to get the seat in place.
There is also another thread Here
Hope this helps the OP.
