The Internet Says "no" to Car Insurance

Surfing the net to find the cheapest car insurance quote is a nightmare for everyone. And what makes it even worse is to find an excellent quote and see the disgusting reviews of the insurance company.

In fact, according to reviewcentre.com, and a number of other review sites, there isn't any car insurance company that anyone likes.

The things people need to realise are these things --
  1. Insurance companies are there to make money. They are a business. They will exploit ignorance and those that do not understand policy covers. It is, in my opinion, your duty to understand your rights and exact policy details. Extortion is another matter, but in general terms it shocks me those people that give a company 1/10 because "they charged me £20 administration for changing my address on my policy." -- or charged for cancellation. Not only is this standard practise as even the top insurers do this, it is your obligation to research into any charges that you might incur should you change any details to your policy. How easy these charges are to find is another story.
  2. 30% your insurance 70% theirs. The fact is that when a third party is purely to blame, their insurance company should be handling and paying for everything. Your insurance company has no control over this. Your experience is only as good as the third parties insurance company that handles the claim. To have a bad experience and then write a bad review about your insurance company is very unfair. The only way to know how pleasant a company is to deal with is if they are dealing solely with the claim. This also relates to brokers. They have to deal with the insurance company on behalf of you.
  3. No one wakes up in cold sweats because they need to write a good review. The reviews are incredibly biased to those who have had bad experience. I mean, who really wakes up in the night with the desperate need to write a positive review? I admit myself -- I am victim to this. If I've had a bad experience, I will tell much more people than something I had a good experience with.
The Internet is cluttered with incredibly awful and biased reviews that are useless without context.

Couldnt agree more...i was put off swift cover by reviews on websites, however i decided to go with them as they were £400 cheaper than everywhere else made a claim and it was resolved quickly and easily.

However its the same with alot of things the internet usually provides people with reviews of bad experiences...

I mean i work for Indesit/Hotpoint in there call centre and i would say we would get around 50-60 calls a day saying thank you or telling us there appliances run fine, considering we take a total of around 9 thoushand a day...most of which are complaints re non working machines etc...its typical of our day...i myself am guilty,i rarely rave about anything other than a bad experience...i assume most other people are the same
