Bear in mind that the Direct Debit Guarantee makes companies promise that they won't take payments at a different date to the one agreed without providing ten days notice, so you may be able to quote this to them.

The only difference would be if it was one of those which stated that funds will be taken "On or around" a certain date.

Thanks Fresian - I pm'd Mumoffour and told her the debits could be worded 'on or after' or 'on or around'
having said that I have often noticed with online banking that the 'dates' accredited to certain transactions can change.

    Hi guy's

sorry I've not been on, but I have been a good girl and not been spending money :D:D Infact I am very proud of myself this weekend...

I will catch up properly later, but just read your post MOF77 - My bank have done that too because the payments were actually due on the 2nd, and that being a Saturday, then the Bank Hol, they come out on the 5th, but they book them in as coming out already because they were due before that date IYSWIM? (not sure I do with that explanation, I've confused myself :D) Payments going in will only show after 12am on the 5th, so although it is probably in your account, they won't be able to see it until it arrives? again, hope you see what I mean, but the system definitely favours the banks rather than you.

If this ever happens again, phone up the bank and they may be able to arrange a temporary overdraft, as sometimes they can see the payment coming into your account even when it's not there? (more confusion :p) or they know it's a regular payment in, and they may set a temp OD up for 2-3 days so that it sees you over the weekend till the money is in. My bank have done this for me before now (and we have absolutly NO credit rating at all) as we didn't have anything for 4 days and needed some basics, they can sometimes be quite helpful if you ask nice...

I will update fully once I get home from work tomorrow, but really need to get some sleep now - see you all then x

Course you can and it is a good point - Hubby has only had this job since beginning of the year - before that he was out of work for a bit as he is in construction so work can be hit and miss and this is when we built up most of the debt, then he only had some low paying jobs, which were better than nothing but we were still unable to pay anything off at this time. I also used a £5000 loan to start my buisiness and get my training (which was just before he was laid off work, typical...) and most of our other debts are small but significant IYKWIM - the rent was because of a total mess up by the council who were not collecting our DD after our rent went up and also down to me not checking our bank statement or online account properly so we were spending money we didn't actually have.

Still appreciated :D, thanks for popping in... :rotfl::rotfl:

Hi everyone else and thanks to you all for your support. Not been online nearly all week as working really hard getting a show home done for yesterday so long hours and very physical work (carrying sofas, tables, beds, etc.) meant that I was shattered every night, plus I think I either have a bad cold or VERY bad hayfever, as I feel lousy... :(

OK, excuses over, I will update in a bit with my good, bad and naughty stuff (please don't nag me about the naughty stuff... :o) :rotfl:

Does this mean that the hard work and feeling under the weather have lowered your resistance and there is lots of naughty stuff?;)

Has your cheque cleared? Do you need to update your signature?!
