Went into town and exchanged books in thelibrary - discovered they had a book sale, and rummaged for 5 (!) kids audio books for the grand total of 50p.

Walked further into our Town Park, and bought a icecream for DS on the way back - £1.00.

Today, i threw DH and DS4 out into the garden to do the lawn and tidy while i cleaned the house from top to bottom. They then played swingball etc while i went to the garden centre for inspiration - would normally go to the large one a few miles way as they have loads of fish and pets to look at, but DS was happy playing out i went to a smaller closer one thus saving on fuel. Came back and dug/weeded a flower bed, and have plans for each night to clear the tip which is my back garden. I am inspired.

If i had had money this weekend i'd have a messy house, no washing done, undig borders and library book fines.:p

most of my suggestions have been done already - walk, bike ride, library, museum, art gallery, bake, coffee with a friend, gardening, read a book in the park if you have no garden

Local swimming pools - not free, but very very cheap, everyone thinks gyms are expensive, but an adult ticket for my local pool is about £3 or something daft, and the kids go free. Not bad value for money.

Sort out the garden, 10 packets of seeds for £1 at my local pound shop. Will lift your mood no end in a few weeks.

Have a BBQ - you don't need to get anything special, just bbq the stuff in your fridge/freezer, invite the neighbours around and get everyone to bring their own drink, and something to eat.

£3 - "very very cheap" - it's a different world. How can you seriously think a charge of £3 is cheap?

And poor people tend not to be able to afford a house with a garden.

In comparison to other forms of leisure/entertainment £3 is good value for an hour or more of swimming for a family.

I live in a first floor flat and have some window boxes on my balcony sill (tied onto the railings), I grow flowers in one and veg in the other. I also have a small plastic zip up greenhouse which is filled with seeds - yet more veg. I also walk to the local village about 1.5 miles or even go for a walk around the block or up to the Lickey Hills (this is about 2 miles distant). I read books, I volunteer my services - deliver leaflets for free, help out with a local charity when they have a car wash.

You don't have to have a lot of money to have a good time just like you don't need to have a garden to be able to grow your own veg:D
  • Go on YouTube and learn a new skill.

Borrow a computer game from a friend

Clean out the bottom of the sofa, the fruit bowl and all the other places where pennies might be hiding. Enough for a coffee?

Find some bubble bath and some candles. Give yourself a manicure and pamper yourself.

Hope you had a nice weekend

If you've got kids you don't get chance to be bored so not sure what to suggest.
I love getting out and about walking, enjoying the countryside come rain or shine. Been out in the garden today tidying up the borders, prepping my veggie patch (it's my first attempt so rather pathetically excited by it!). My son is really only happy when he can be outside and we've not ventured further than the local swimming pool today. Not been bored once!
Are there any hobbies that you are interested in pursuing? Could do some yoga (get those muscles stretched!), do some baking or best of all just chill. My "me" time is none existent (hence the reason I am on MSE so late it's the only free time I have!!). Am actually quite envious of you being bored.......
