SLC Information

Hello All,

I have a query, I was a student approximately 3 years ago, now I have a civil matter going to court, can the other party find out information about my student loans without my consent?

I'm presuming student loans are covered by the same data protection rules as every other piece of personal and financial data.
So the only way of getting hold of this information without your direct consent is if it is deemed to be in the public interest. The other party could put an freedom of information request in to the SLC but will be rejected as it is classed as personal identifiable data. However if the matter is relating to financial irregularities or fraud there may be some argument towards this being in the public interest.

Someone else may have more indepth knowledge of this but I think it's doubtful that unless fraud is the focus of the civil action that knowledge of student loans is relevant anyway.
