I sold my house without an agent - YIPEE!!

I am so over the moon. My house was due to go on the market in a months time but there are houses for sale in my row. I spoke to a guy viewing a house that was sale as he was asking me what the area was like. I let him know that my house had a garden and many other features and would be coming on the market in a few weeks. He looked around the house and bought it on the spot!! I had the house valued in August 2008 and took £5k off the price because of the recession and it worked. It has passed the survey and I am moving out in 2 weeks time and saved £3500 on estate agent fees!! I have to add that I did know the viewer from years back, I would not recommend letting strangers in your house without vetting or company. It makes me wonder what estate agents do, because I just instructed a solicitor to talk to his solicitor and away we went without the expensive middle man/woman!!!!:j

    Well done!

However how many people do you think bump into people they knew or even do not know who are looking to buy a house and they happen to be selling?
  • I know the odds are far out, but it may be worth thinking that if the house next door is for sale to be around when they are viewing!!! After the last 3 years I have had, it was about time fate went my way!!

They find buyers and match them with sellers who HAVEN'T had the 100 to 1, pure chance encounter that you did, and who don't actually know their viewers 'from a few years back' ...... amongst other things.
