I really dont know the lock on the door no longer works i cannot lock my door from the inside and the catch does not come out when I close the door. I suppose it could be classed as accidental damage? I have accidental damage cover for contents but not for buildings insurance

I doubt it will be covered by Accidental Damage as it sounds like general "Wear and Tear" or maintenance to me. Accidental Damage on a door would normally involve some type of impact

You could try making a claim but I doubt they will pau, if they did agree you will have an excess of £50 or upwards and your premium will go up.

Can you not just change the lock if its a wooden door or if its a upv door you can normally just change the barrel. Either way normally costs about £20.

The other thing to do is to put WD40 on all the moving parts and on the key and put the key in to lubricate the lock.
