My moviestream DVD rental - I've lost one of the DVD's

Well not me exactly, my wife let my parents borrow it and it seems to have vanished between there and here. We've looked all over the house, no sign. I've looked on the website and I can't find anything about lost DVD's, but obviously we will have to pay for it. Does anyone know how much this would cost? It's a pretty new one too - Wallace and Gromit The Curse of The Were-rabbit.

Just drop them an e-mail telling them you sent back a DVD a number of days ago and their system hasn't registered it. They'll say no probs, and won't charge you anything - they don't actually buy DVDs, they buy licenses to rent and then make copies (yes, they're allowed!). That's why Blockbuster have that promise that they'll always be enough copies hehe.
Don't think you can get away with doing this repeatedly though, they'll just tell you to shove off eventually!0 -

I thought about that, or saying it got lost in the post but I dunno, I hate being dishonest.

They'll probably appreciate your honesty. Just send them an email and see what they say. With a bit of luck they won't charge you anything, and if they do it shouldn't be too much.
Good luck.0 -

Good luck.
Yeah, I think I'm gonna give that a try. I just wonder if people do this and steal them, and I'll pay the price for their dishonesty.0 -
If you say you've lost it they'll charge you £15 probably, its up to you though at the end of day.0

Don't say you've lost it! ... just say you never received it.
Have done this in the past with Blockbuster and all was fine they just resend another copy of DVD to you. No harm done!0 -
One important detail I left out - we are only on the free trial and have already cancelled so I think this will have a bearing on how much they charge us.0

Nice to see that honestry appears to be dead for some people. If you loose or damage something, then why not own up instead of expecting genuine customers to subsidise you.0 -
Hey, a copied dvd isn't going to cost them a fraction of what they (may) charge! Some companies want there to have been a proof of postage for sending the final dvds back. This was the case with Movietrak when I returned a dvd back not knowing this. It was 'lost in the post'. After many trials and paid subscriptions this surprised me as it was the first time that had happened! Not only did they take out at least £15 to cover the loss they neglected to inform me that they therefore do not cancel the account, and took another month. After many emails they did let me cancel- more than £30 later. This is not in their terms but is something I've just let go of- the complaints letters pile up... Yeah, tbh, I'm thinking I might one day do the dirty on them 1 dvds worth.0

I just sent this E-Mail to them:-
"Hi, I have just recently cancelled my subscription during your 2-week 4 disc trial. I had Batman Begins and Wallace and Gromit:The Curse of The Were-rabbit at home when I cancelled. Whilst getting the discs ready to send back to yourselves I noticed the Wallace and Gromit one was missing. We have looked absoloutely everywhere for it and can't find it anywhere. We have absoloutely no idea where it could be, although it could only be in the house as we obviously didn't take it outside of our home. We're still hoping it'll turn up somewhere but right now we are at a loss. Please accept my apologies for this, it's mystery to us what has happened to it. If and when it does turn up we will be sure to send it straight back to yourselves. Sorry again."
I was gonna say something like "I understand if you want to charge me for the loss of the disc" but I didn't wanna draw their attention to money and the possibility of them getting some outta me. Saying that though, I won't blame them if they do charge me, I just hope it isn't very much.
