Ive just noticed that when i just turned the pc on the monitor would flash on and off wen it was at the windows loading screen and when it booted to desktop. I managed to stop it blinking just by giving it a soft whack and its now stopped, i thught maybe it was the vga cable that was loose but it was screwed in, checked the mains cable and it was plugged in. I had noticed that while it was flashing the power on light on the front of the monitor was still green. Is the flashing a sign the monitoris on its way out ?

also just now the monitor went blank as if id turned the monitor off

Yeah eventually it won't turn on at all, I had the same problem with mine, I wouldn't give up just yet though because it's not impossible to replace them. Maplins sell the capacitors, then all you need is a soldering iron and some solder ;)

Just replace the bulging/slightly brown on the top ones with the same uf and voltage, they should be the ones on the power board. You want high temperature capacitors too, about 10p each.

Save yourself spending £150 on a new monitor :p
