Tesco doesn't honour vouchers unless you can predict the future. BEWARE.

Whenever I order from Tesco Online I always make sure that my order is well above the minimum order value required for any voucher that I am using. This is because chances are something will be out of stock and so my total bill will be reduced. I wish I didn't have to do this, but due to the voucher policy I do.

A few thoughts after reading the replies:

    1) Having difficult customers is hardly an excuse for poor customer service.

    2) There is no 'sure way' of ensuring your goods meet the minimum spend. (except maybe ordering £100 to meet a £50 minimum)

    3) Again, many customers ordered online in good faith to meet the minimum spend and were not 'trying it on'. But due to whatever reasons, when the order is delivered, the minimum spend is not met and the vouchers not reedeemable. Don't try to paint the customers as 'trying it on'. If Tesco wants to offer vouchers to encourage people to buy from them, they should play fair.

I've sent an email to BBC watchdog as well. I would encourage everyone who encountered a similar situation like this to do the same.

Me too, I usually order some extra items that are on special offer or some extra washtabs etc.. all stuff that I'll use anyway.

Never forget what it says in the terms and conditions for evouchers :

"If we refuse an eCoupon submitted as part of an order, for any reason, we will inform you before the order is dispatched to advise of the correct cost of the order and give you the opportunity to cancel the order."

Assuming that they didn't contact you (when do they ever!!!) it's worth pointing out that they are in breach of their T&C as they didn't give you an opportunity to cancel.

I sent them an email saying they had breached their own T&C:
Allow me to bring your attention to your terms and conditions on
    tesco.com, point 6.7, last sentence:

"If we refuse an eCoupon submitted as part of an order, for any reason,
we will inform you before the order is dispatched to advise of the
correct cost of the order and give you the opportunity to cancel the order."
    http://www.tesco.com/termsandconditions/termsconditionsGeneral.htm#eCoupons

As you have not informed me that you are refusing the eCoupon nor give
me an opportunity to cancel my order, you have broken your own terms and
    conditions.

Please advise as to what action you will take to correct this.

    This is their full reply:
    Thank you for your email.

I do apologise you were not informed the coupon couldnt be used.

As I have said your final shopping bill was below the spend so that invalidated the coupon.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us at customer.service@tesco.co.uk quoting ***.

    Kind Regards
