* Can anyone point me to anywhere that still has stocks of the Canon IP4500?
* Does anyone know if Canon sell their printers with "full" ink carts, or are they smaller than usual?
* Any photo-printer recommendation?
Ideal budget is 50-90. I'd stretch perhaps to 125 for a good reason.
Background
I have a Canon IP4300. In the last 2 weeks it's been reporting "print head failure" via 5 amber flashing LEDs.I've removed/reinserted the head + cartridges, checked electrical contacts, ribbon cables but only once persuaded it to get going (where it printed perfectly)
After quite a few wasted hours, and complaints from the kids about printing homework I need to move on & get it replaced. I do also use the printer on occasion for digital photo printing, and will be purchasing a higher res SLR in the next few months so this remains a requirement, thus ruling out a colour laser
Since I have 1/2 full cartridges (x5) in the IP4300, and 3 unopened in the cupboard I may offset some of the purchase by choosing a model that takes the same carts -- the 4500 is the latest to do so, whilst the current IP 4600 does not.
Obviously changing brands will have the same issue, and I never did like lexmark/HP printers I had in the past, and my last epson kept getting all blocked up.
But I'm not totally closed to ideas. I did think about wifi/ethernet. That would be handy as it allows for more flexible printer placement, but I'd only pay a small premium (£20) for this. I already have a reasonable flatbed scanner and hardly use it in any case. Fax is totally irrelevant to me (as it should be to everyone IMO..)
Finally I should add I've found a couple of small places with the printer in stock for around 75 all-in, but I'm emailing or will call monday as it's somewhat elusive and want to check the stock situation first!

I have an ip5300 which uses cli-8 carts x 4 and pgi-5bk?? which I think are the same but this also is old model - they are easy to refill through hole in top by removing the plastic sealing ball.0
