bought a car no tax can i drive it home

I've bought a car but its not taxed and i wont have the cover note in time for when i collect it.
can i drive it home with no tax its a 100 mile trip

    I did that 28 years ago when I was 16,on a moped,and promptly got caught on the way home,and subsequently got fined in court.

    you can free 7 day insurance for it which is then emailed directly to you with the cover note which you can take to the post office and get it taxed that way....

    Ask the insurer to fax the cover note to you, most will do this. If the seller is amenable they may agree to tax the car for you if you can get the cover note to them.

    i know the DVLA def do not accept a faxed cover note it has to be the real thing, however the post office might do im not sure....
