Hi all, Please help me! I have been living abroad for 2 years and I've been forced to move back to the UK but I will have no where to live and no money. I can crash on my dads Sofa for a short period of time but I have no idea where else to turn. Im 23 and I only paid into the NI when I was 19-21 so im worried I wouldnt get job seekers.

There are 2 sorts of JSA, income based and contributions based. Best bet is to get in touch with the Job Centre and go through it with them. jobcentreplus.gov.uk will give you more info. You can do it over the phone (make a claim) but be prepared to have a long call as there are loads of questions they will ask and you still have to attend an interview where they will probably go through everything with you again.
Have you got a UK bank account from when you lived here before? They may want the details to be able to pay you the JSA fortnightly which is easiest for them. You will need a bank account anyway to be able to pay rent, council tax, utilities etc when you're back on your feet, so if you haven't got one already, then talk to your Dad's bank. They will want lots of ID etc and there may be delays because of the time you were out of the country. That's because you won't be on the electoral roll, won't have bills in your name to prove address/identity etc. It will take some time so don't expect anything for a few weeks. Red tape everywhere you go these days.0 -
I think you rossa very very much. I have a savings accounts in the UK and still have a credit card int he UK that i always pay when I was abroad. So I can get my credit card billed address assigned to my Dads address if you think that will help.0
