not that I am impatient or anything but a bit of a bump !0

If you are made redundant your old employer can advertise your position at anytime they wish, what usualy makes them think twice about doing it too soon is the fact that you can appeal your redundancy for up to 3 months after the date you were made redundant.
You would have to prove "unfair selection" be that only you may have been working part time and only you were selected for redundancy (Not saying you were but just giving examples) or any other form of unfair selection.
See link for more examples and advice.

What if you were looking for a job and found that your old company was advertising a new position, and that this new position had to report to your old job title - would you have a case then?!

If you were still employed at the time that the advertisement appeared for the new position, then yes you would have a case if it was something you were qualified to do. You should have been told of the vacancy - so that you could decide whether you wanted to apply. (And many people manage people where they could not do the job of the people managed so just because someone might "report to your old job title" doesn't automatically mean you would be appropriately qualified to do the subordinate job.)0 -
sorry, the old job title is the one that I was made redundant from - the new job advertised is just one that earns half the amount of money from the job I was made redundant from. It was really the fact that it was a new job that the company have created that would be reporting to my old job title, and I am wondering, therefore, who has got my old job title!
Blimey, not good at explaining things on this thread, am I?!0 -
you still don't have a case, sorry, circumstances change, they can readvertise. They do not have to offer it to you, interview you, talk to you.
I am not sure you have been able to mentally move on from this process, but you do need to start looking forward and let go of the bad feeling - it wont help in the long run.
take care.

no you are most probably right, so then I have obviously misunderstood the rules concerning redundancy because I thought a company couldn't make someone redundant in order to cut costs, and then seem to have someone taking the your old role over in just a couple of months?
As you say I wouldn't mind so much, but when I am still looking for a job and come across my old company advertising it is quite hurtful, and it does feel personal.
Thanks for your answers.0
