You say *you* hated school as a child. What about your chikldren? How do they feel about it? I know they're very young, but they may wish to go to school. Most children love school, and the social benefits are massive.
Just something to bear in mind.

I home educate my 13 year old although he went to school when smaller so I'm not much of an expert on small children.
By cost it depends on what you mean - yes you need some parental availability so you can't be in paid employment 24/7. No you can't get any financial help specifically for home educating. Personally I haven't needed any financial help - what I would have spent on school dinners and school trips I now spend on family trips so we all benefit from learning new stuff.
Socially my son is fine. He, I admit, still has his friends from school. However in most areas there is lots of things you can join that will give children social contact as well as the home ed. groups. In fact IMHO home education broadens social contact by not limiting it to peer group only. Ditto bullying - I think that happens more in school!
