DHL saturday delivery ,not delivered!!

Hi,
I wonder if anyone can give me some advice, I had a client want a parcel delivered by DHL today (Saturday) and was willing to pay well over the odds for that service (£20 as opposed to £8 for normal week day with “pay per parcel”) but guess what it has not turned up!!
I have no problem with pay per parcel as they have kept to there part of the contract and had it picked up yesterday morning no problem, I even put a bloody great label on the top of the package saying “Saturday 18th delivery” I have used the online tracking and the parcel got to the nearest DHL at 0400 this morning and that is where is sits??
Every DHL helpline and depot is now closed until Monday and iv had a angry customer wanting their parcel and refund of courier fee(don’t blame them) thing is when I phone DHL Monday does anyone from experience know what im likely to be offered as a “next day delivery “is no good as my customer is out all day until Saturday and has no one else for it to be left with, and telling the customer they will deliver it next Saturday is likely to go down like a lead balloon!

its not your fault DHL didnt deliver,
DHL should deliver it to an alternative address on Monday or Tuesday after you have spoken to them where someone can receive it for her ieher place of work, nominated neighbour or friend etc. I get on very well with my neighbours next door and over the road so must items are just left with them.
i bet they just turn up with it on monday and expect her to be in,
this happened to me once, i arranged collection of something on a certain day waited all day no one arrived (i was at work and wanted it collecting from work) then the next day when i happened to be at work they turned up for it. The thing was i couldnt even report it as a failed collection on the original day until 5.30 (in theterms) and then they were closed!
have you heard from the customer?0 -

Not every neighbour gets on.0 -
i didnt mean her neighbour, i mean that on monday or tuesday after the OP has contacted DHL they could deliver it to the buyer at work or a friends house etc not a neighbours unless the buyer is happy for it to go there
maybe it wasnt clear in my post, i will edit so it reads how i meant0 -
I'd be giving the buyer a friendly ring to apologise. People I find are quite reasonable just so long as they know and you have the guts to face them.
DHL should refund. They can re-direct the package to your buyer's workplace.
As a buyer I often just pickup from the depot if there's a problem. Life's too short to even get stressed about it.0 -
I HATE couriers.
They never deliver when they are supposed to. And when you track, the package sits in their !!!!!!! depot for days before going out for delivery.
Absolutely useless.0 -
Next day delivery for very very little.
The alternatives....

I contacted the customer straight after I found out the parcel had not been delivered, they were not a “happy puppy” they or course want their money back for the courier fee and want to know why DHL didn’t feel like delivering the parcel on the day the customer had paid for?
The customer would not have paid the extra if they had a friend or neighbour who would take it in, the fact is in this day and age a lot of people have nothing to do with the neighbours and this customer did not want this parcel left elsewhere and they also do not have a car so having the parcel delivered to work is not an option either (large parcel).
I suppose paying £20 for a guaranteed Saturday delivery is not much, but it is when a standard delivery would have been £8? So the customer could have paid the £8 and would now be no worse off.
The thing is starting a business in a recession is bloody hard and your only as good as your last job and when you make sure everything that is in your power you try to get 100% right ,then you hand your product over to a courier and they !!!!!! it up, it really gets to you.
The customer is very understanding but that does not get away from the fact that as of Monday morning they will be out of the house until Saturday so I very much hope DHL will admit they have been a great let down and offer a service to get the parcel to the customer either early or late in the day? (But I doubt it will be that easy):mad:0 -
It's been stopped at the hub. Might be a missort or lost in depot.0
