Halifax ISA - check your details

I have held a Halifax ISA for a few years.
I read about the Halifax ISA Direct Saver on this website, which pays 5% compared with 3.85% that I am currently getting.
On enquiring I was dealt with immediaetely, and my ISA was transferred. Nothing changes, not even the account number, but I am now getting the higher interest rate.
Check your Halifax ISA account if you have one, you could be losing out!
If you have an ISA with another supplier, it might be worth changing too, but you have to arrange a transfer. Don't just withdraw the money as you lose the tax-free benefits that go with an ISA.

Might also be worth looking at Alliance and Leicester's Direct ISA which currently pays 5.2% interest (4.5% including a 0.7% bonus until April 2007)0

You have to calculate whether it's worth switching though.
£3000 sitting in the Halifax ISA would earn you £150
£3000 sitting in A&L would earn you £156
If you have a larger amounts then it might be worth the hassle, otherwise not worth bothering about.0 -
Sppokily enough I have just gone through exactly the same exercise with my good lady's Halifax Cash Isa to move from 3.85 to 5%.
For info the number to call is 08457 263646, ask to set up a saver direct account and transfer the ohter account into it.

Also - make sure the interest is paid back into the ISA! The default option for me was to pay the interest back into my current account losing all the advantages of tax free interest! All my views are my monkey's views. I give advice on behalf of my pet monkey and do I give banana related advice. All my posts are my monkey's opinion and no-one else's.0
