viewing digital camera pictures ?

Hi,

probably a stupid question but here goes .........

I'm thinking of buying a digital camera. I know you go to a shop to print the photos. But how can i view the pictures first ................

I have computer access at work but cannot download software, etc as it is banned/not possible. I can use library computer but i guess same thing would apply.

is there any other way of seeing the pictures that does not involve installing software first ?

Thanks Anne

My camera joins to the pc with a usb cable and just shows up as an extra drive. I can view the pics just by clicking on the drive icon.

  • You can also view the pictures on the camera's built-in screen and many have a lead to connect them to a TV

Also, there are devices that plug into your TV to allow you to see the photos on it, if your camera doesn't have a cable to attach it directly to the TV.

You'll probably be fine at work though, unless it's against the rules, since you won't need to install any software to view pictures.

Thanks - my TV is quite old so don't think it will have ability but will check.

At work we already have a digital camera and it had to have software downloaded & had to go an approval procedure. Maybe it depends which camera you buy..............?

    Thanks Anne

The software is usually only if you want to do anything to the photos such as saving a cropped photo etc. Simply viewing them does not normally require software.

Also...some cameras can use removeable memory cards, so you can save the pictures you take, to the memory card, then take it out and use a memory card reader on the pc. If your pc does not have an in-built memory card reader, you can buy one that joins to the pc with a usb cable, they are only a few pounds.
